In
the age of globalization, there exist no boundaries in a
geographical
area. There is a whole growth of knowledge explosion, and this
has led for more and more people to gain knowledge. At one time,
knowledge was imparted to a certain class of people but today,
it is accessible by all.
The Church, being Pioneers in modern education, have also
started thinking of diversifying their base. This has resulted
into not only concentrating on school education but also to
journey with the students to greater heights.
The Diocese of Durgapur for the past few years have been taking
special
initiative in creating more and more scopes for better
education. The
members of the St. Michael’s School Governing Body, which
comprises
Educationists, Financial Experts, Legal Experts and
Administrators, thought of opening of a new avenue for education
by St. Michael’s Teachers’ Training Institute. This Institute
will give off Bachelor of Education Degree fully recognized by
NCTE and affiliated to the Burdwan University.
The St. Michael’s Teachers’ Training Institute is not just an
ordinary
institute busy in earning money for profit; it is a unique and
noble
venture of the Diocese of Durgapur. This Institute would cater
to the needs of the mediocre students of the provinces of
Burdwan and Bankura, where fewer opportunities are available to
them in other institutes. Our Institute would like to give a
systematic and a value based education and further explicable
opportunities, which will ultimately prepare good citizens for
our wonderful country.
We are aware that this broad-based task does not depend solely
on few
individuals, who will run the Institute, but will also need the
cooperation
of the people of the civil society. We rest assured that you
will extend
your valuable cooperation in joining hands for a better world.
The holy inaugural ceremony of this Institute has been arranged
for on
Saturday, 2nd June 2007, at 5.00 p.m. The occasion will be
graced by the revered presence of The Rev. Dr. Enos Das Pradhan,
General Secretary, Church of North India Synod, who shall unveil
the plaque and inaugurate St. Michael’s Teachers’ Training
Institute.
The Rt. Rev. Dr. Probal Kanto
Dutta,
Bishop of Diocese of Durgapur &
Chairman, St. Michael’s Teachers’ Training Institute,
Durgapur – 713 212.
